Sometimes the best things in life happen when we have no control over the circumstances.
Herb Person is/was my Mother’s brother. He came into my life in a big way when Dad died in January of 1983 almost 25 years ago. He simply took me under his wing and taught me some of the values of his life. He loved me unconditionally. He taught me that there are priorities in my life; A B C and D. He taught me A was God B was Family and the other priorities will take care of themselves. Period.
Herb passed in Eugene Oregon of a heart attack at age 85 11-4-07. His sister, my Aunt Bernice, very frail, age 82 called me crying that she was going to miss the funeral if I didn’t take her from her assisted living quarters in Portland to Eugene. I flew to Portland. Read the rest of this entry »

Hardly a moment goes by when you won’t use your Business Plan. Do you have one? Lacking a business plan, you often get carried away by the daily storms and crisis that strike every business. But with a plan, you will find your days are regulated, the storms are calmed, and your business runs along smoothly without ceasing, since your plan is right there in front of you. You know how to react to the struggles and turmoils because you have a ready plan.
Living in the twilight zone has its advantages. In the early days of starting a new business, I found the limitations of living in a rural area to be restrictive. However, those limitations were not an obstacle that could stop me; they were only a challenge that would strengthen me. Since my business would be smaller, I would have the advantage of fewer employees and less strife in the processes of doing business.
Growth, while difficult in a single entity, could easily be accomplished through multiplication. By repeating the business in several locations, it could become the kind of business I wanted to run.
